Although most hawkers have the prices displayed you can ask for a discount off these marked prices. Some of the choice of seafood include Tiger Prawns, King Prawns, mud crab, stingray and a variety of fish.

Newton Circus is very much a tourist area so the prices for the food is so much higher than the other Hawker centres where Singaporean's eat. If you want to try the real thing then check out the Hawker Centre on 6th Avenue Singapore. It's only small though has a great selection of cuisine and the prices are the cheapest you'll find anywhere. 6th Avenue is around 15 minutes by taxi from Singapore's city centre or you can catch a bus down Bukit Timah Rd and get off at the corner of 6th Avenue.
